Hazelwood Green Preliminary Land Development Plan
The Hazelwood Green Preliminary Land Development Plan (PLDP) is a technical document that was developed from Fall 2017 to August 2018 to meet the City of Pittsburgh’s PLDP requirements for Special Planned Districts and in coordination with new Zoning Text (and Traffic Impact Study) for a 178-acre redevelopment site in Pittsburgh called Hazelwood Green. During this time I acted as the PLDP’s project manager, as well as primary author and graphic designer. To realize the Almono LP vision and achieve the development expectations, this new PLDP was completed to provide a core built form framework with flexible programming and development approaches that make the site adaptive to rapidly shifting markets and climates. In April 2020, the PLDP received the American Planning Association (APA)’s Sustainable Communities Division Award for Excellence in Sustainability in Urban Design Plan or Development Project.
Designed with LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) in mind, Hazelwood Green was awarded LEED-ND Plan Certification at the Platinum level, USGBC’s highest LEED rating in July 2020. Working with partners, I completed and managed the documentation for certification.
